1. How would you describe your current employee relations environment? Has it improved or gotten worse in the last 12 months? How do you know?
2. Tell me a little about your current hiring process - how do you find, select and hire new employees? Be as detailed as possible about your process (how many steps, what are they, who handles each one).
3. How do you "on-board" or orient new hires? Please describe in detail what steps a new hire goes through and who leads them through that process.
4. Describe in a sentence or two the one story about your company I would hear for sure if I spent one day hanging around in a breakroom talking to employees.
5. How often do you communicate with employees? Please describe the channels of communication you use (i.e. newsletter, town hall meetings, website, etc.) and briefly describe whether you feel those channels are effective.
6. Do you face any challenges dealing with poor performing or "toxic" employees? If you can think of specific examples please briefly describe them.
7. Have you had a prior union election at any one of your facilities? Do you know about any union organizing activity in your area or around any of your facilities?
8. What’s the single most important thing about creating a positive work environment or preparing for the Employee Free Choice Act that we can help you with which we haven‘t addressed so far?
