This month's free lesson plan is the first sample chapter for a book series that we're considering developing.

Each book would have about 15-20 high-interest nonfiction passages on a single topic with key vocabulary terms integrated into theses passages. Students are more likely to remember vocabulary words related to a specific topic than those simply given without context.
The first book would be on wilderness survival, and would include topics like:
Navigation
Finding Shelter
Important Gear
Finding Food and Water
Other topics for future books could include subjects like:
Unexplained phenomenon
True Crime
Real-Life Heroes
Adventures & Exploration
And More.
